Update for June 2010 We had hoped to begin building our railroad last month, we have suffered a set back in completing lease documents for the use of Riverside Park. The City of Yuma Parks Dept. have been in contact with the State Parks Dept. quite often. We have been kept abreast of the situation via e-mails. Our request to install track for fund raising was denied. The State Parks Dept. demands a signed lease before we do any thing at the park. In the mean time we have to be patient. We now hope to have this finallized by this fall. We are contracted to build a railroad for a resident of Yuma. We have been building track panels for this project as the stages are funded. We are building switches for the yard area at the park as well. We hope to have plenty of track prepared for the building of the rail lines. We now have a mill and lathe so that we can produce parts for the track and trains. A wheel hub has been donated to us in Phoenix. With this we can draft the plans for a turntable we will need in the yard. Update for September 2009 We are beginning our first major fundraising program. "Buy-A-Tie" We offer a railroad tie that will be engraved with the purchaser's name. These railroad ties will be installed in our station facility when it is built. We are in the final stages of securing Riverside Park as the location for our permanent station and yard facility. We are also scheduling one weekend each month from October thru December at Riverside Park, to set up and operate our train on our portable track. Please see the schedule listed on our website for more on this event.
Update for March 2009 We are in talks with the City of Yuma and are working on the paperwork for the lease of the park. Update Report for January 2009 Yuma Territory Live Steamers now has the 501(c)3 non-profit status for your tax deductible donations. If you made a donation, ask for your tax deductible papers from us. We have acquired a train & riding cars with track for the organization. The group is rebuilding the track to make a portable track to take to different locations to set up for public rides. If you would like to help build track, please contact us to volunteer at (928) 782-1988. Yuma Territory Live Steamers needs to raise $2,500 for liability insurance in order to provide rides to the public. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Please send donations to Yuma Territory Live Steamers at 1336A South 4th Ave., Yuma, AZ 85364. We have received some donated items such as; hand tools, 8’ tables, table drapes, band-saw, rail, ties, 10x20 shade cover and other items for raffle prizes. Thank you very much, Yuma Territory Live Steamers |
